I'm surprised the writers dropped the additional money they wanted from rentals, but the fact they were willing to drop it makes me think they're serious about compromising.
What are your thoughts?
Please no generalizations about corrupt unions or greedy corporations. I don't mean to be rude in asking that, but I've already had one inane conversation with a friend where he just kept insisting unions are corrupt, and that was the reason why they are striking.

The situation disappoints me because some new struggling shows will be canceled entirely as a result of the time gap created by the strike.
Luckily for me, I watch most of my TV on DVD now, so I am insulated from the impact for now.
Two notes:
First, when considering the effect of this strike on viewers, an episode of the "Simpsons" comes to mind. Can any one guess which one?
Second, due to its lack of unionized writers, professional wrestling might benefit from the strike. See:
